Capt. (Retired) Kuldeep Singh Solanki

A man of vision and unwavering dedication, he is one of the main founders of Global Coal and Mining Private Limited (GCMPL). After a distinguished service in the Indian Army, he entered the coal industry and established Sainik Mining and Allied Services Limited (SMASL) in 1981 a coal mining and transportation company that has grown to become one of India’s leading mining firms.

He is a true pioneer in the sector, introducing surface miner technology to the Indian coal mining industry a revolutionary advancement at the time that significantly enhanced operational efficiency and safety.

Under his leadership, SMASL, in partnership with Thriveni, was recently awarded India’s largest Mine Developer and Operator (MDO) contract the Pakri Barwadih project, a 15 million tons per annum coal mining project awarded by NTPC (National Thermal Power Corporation). The project has been successfully implemented.

He also played a pivotal role in the founding of GCMPL, which was incorporated under his guidance as a clean coal beneficiation company, with the objective of delivering improved quality coal to India’s coal-based thermal power plants.
